Social Networking and Libraries - by Miranda DeArmond

If you work in a school, stop what you are doing right now and go to Instagram and follow thebookwrangler (thebookwrangler).  Trust me, you will thank me later. Ok, so thebookwrangler is the username for a guy named Mike, and he creates content for educators, parents and librarians.  This guy is great.  He has such awesome content.  He gives fun activities and content that relates to what is happening during a month, for example during Women’s History Month he has different posters you can download and a bunch of books that center around women and female authors.  I love his stuff.

Social media is so fantastic these days.  I mean I can open up my phone and look at thebookwranglers content and get an idea for my library.  Relevant ideas that can bring my space to life. I think back to when I was a kid and my school librarian.  Her name was Mrs O and she was my favorite teacher.  I wonder how she thought of things for the library without social media?  Don’t get me wrong not all my ideas come from the vast knowledge of the internet, but I do check it out regularly. We are very lucky that we live in the age where I can go check out what other librarians are doing in different parts of the country and even the world.  (I’m looking ar you biblioburro). It makes me feel like I should start a library blog or instagram of my own to help inspire others.  I probably won’t but I like the idea of spreading library love around and expanding our community through social networking.  So if you are reading this what is your favorite library blog or influencers?

various posts. (2024). Instagrm. https://www.instagram.com/thebookwrangler/
